ABOUT MY PROJECT

So where did it all begin?

In today's world, we want people to recognize our name and what we do; whether its a street art tag, a corporate brand name, a signature, a selfie, even a personalised registration plate. I started uploading pictures to social media using the early project name ehp (Ethan Holden Photography).  I then realised that this project is something that I want to build on, so I started the youtube channel, and then the instagram followed. This is when the Ethan Holden Photography X Videography Project was born.

My first video to start the youtube channel was from a geography school trip: "WA Geography: Wardle Field Trip", My Geography teacher had allowed us to take our cameras on the trip, so me being me, I made a video out of it.

I then started to upload few videos (the collections) where I created small videos of my favourite photos from that month and season. It was something nice to do at the end of each month as a visual reflection on the past few weeks.

After the success of the first Geography video, I was asked to make another one of our study into Blackpool's tourism. About a week after showing the class, I looked up onto one of the schools displays and saw that my video was playing. Having my video and the ehpxv project logo being showcased around was something that made me feel proud of what I started.

How do I make my videos?

Filming wise, I often use my Lumix DMC GH1 DLSR, with its capibility to shoot in full 1080p AVCHD as well as having interchangable lens makes it ideal. I often use my 14-42mm lens for taking long & medium shots and then my superzoom (45-200mm) when taking Macro or extreme/close shots.

I also love to film on my GoPro 3+ as I find the quality outstandingly clear as well as it being a lot durable compared to my Lumix.

In the way of post-production, I started with iMovie in 2010 (when I was 11) and learn't the different basic aspects of editing, I then started using Final Cut Pro X in 2014, I love FCPX and its something that I am not going to be letting go of soon. As part of my TV & Film course, I have become very close with Abode Premiere Pro, and will begin working with Avid as of September 2016.
