ETHAN HOLDEN

Hello!

Well I'm Ethan, 17 years old from small village in Greater Manchester. I enjoy the creative side of life, the concepts surrounding indivuality, the power of the arts, and the simplicity of travel and nature.

Happiness is something that motivates me the most in life, I love to be optmistic and make the best of the situation. I believe if you are friendly, humble and happy, you can get anywhere in life; factors like wealth and power don't really matter when it comes to progressing; its about aspiration and determination.
 

I've grown up in a small village on the edge of the Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire where urban life meets ruralness; this has made me passionate to capture the landscape around me, as well people and environment.

Through the lens?

Filmmaking is something that brought my life purpose, it all started at the age of 7 when I looked down the lens of my first camera,  This then built my interests in photography, and by 12: I was making many short (and silly) videos on iMovie.

​

There is so much creativity within nature which I try and express in my work. I also enjoy to take photos which are meaningful and have a story. I have been lucky to travel with my parents, visiting Europe, South Africa, North America (including Canada), Thailand, Laos PDR and Cambodia giving me occasions to capture different cultures.

​

Using my DLSR as well as GoPro 3+, I take pleasure in shooting and editing with Final Cut Pro X and Abode Premiere Pro to make videos showcasing my work. I am venturing on Avid Media Composer developing myself as a filmmaker. I also love to take stills on my DLSR, feel free to have a look at my work on this website, as well as posts on the project's instagram.

Studying film has inspired me to produce factual film shedding light onto aspects to our world which go unspoken, showing reality in it's truest form providing vivid insights into different cultures and lifestyles.

Education & Current Courses?

I am currently studing at the University Technical College in Media City UK taking a level 3 extended diploma in a creative media course specialising in TV & Film and an A-Level in Creative Writing. These courses have helped me develop my knowledge the media industry, as well helping me progress my hobby of photography and videography.

​

Prior to this, I went to my local secondary school and studied 11 GCSE courses as well as taking part in different enrichments:

I chose Media Studies, Art & Design, Drama, and Geography as my GCSE options. I left with 11 A*-Cs in English (Language & Literature), Maths, Science (Core & Additional), Geography, Religious Studies, Media Studies, ICT, Art & Design, Drama, and and a BTEC in Physical Education.

​

I also passed Level 2 Award in Algebra and and a level 1 in Radio Production.

​
